Dirt Candy NYC

This weekend, a Michelin Star was awarded to Dirt Candy, a downtown New York restaurant that's long been famous for its innovative and very delicious plant-based cuisine.

(PSST! Here's why plant-based food helps the planet, your neighborhood, and your body and skin... and also tastes amazing.)

Founded by chef Amanda Cohen, Dirt Candy serves incredible dishes like pumpkin pad thai and kale matzah ball soup, all sourced from local, seasonal harvests. (Yes, you should go.)

But Dirt Candy isn't the only plant-based restaurant to have a prestigious Michelin star. There are currently 81 (!!!) vegetarian restaurants acknowledged by the fine dining organization, and they're located everywhere from Beijing to Berlin. And there are 33 right here in America

That includes...

Bloom Plant Based Kitchen, a Chicago eatery with elevated takes on tacos, noodles, and (avocado key lime) ice cream.

Fancy Radish, a gourmet enclave in Washington, D.C. famous for its shaved mushroom "carpaccio" and gorgeous smoked eggplant.

Shizen, a vegan sushi bar in the Bay Area that swaps salmon and shrimp with pumpkin, carrot, and ginger—and we could not tell the difference!

Gracias Madre, the beloved California Mexican spot where jackfruit pulled "pork" and cauliflower mole make us cry because they're that good.

Of course, a vegan restaurant doesn't have to have a Michelin star for it to be incredible. If you have your own favorite plant-based place for brunch or dinner, DM us and tell us all about it!
